FOIP: Leaders for a Free and Open Indo-Pacific: Sea and Human Security

Following a two-month online training from June to August, UNITAR brought together nearly 80 enthusiastic leaders from across Asia for an in-person workshop in Jakarta, held from 1-10 September 2024. The workshop featured special lectures from experts in the fields of sea and human security, as well as group work, study tours, and networking activities.
From October 11-20 October, UNITAR organized another regional workshop in Nadi, Fiji, for a cohort of around 70 passionate leaders from the Pacific region.
Throughout both workshops, participants, subject matter experts, and UNITAR delegates shared valuable insights and lessons learned.

EWS: Leave No One Behind: Rapid Response to Climate Crises through the Early Warning Systems

After completing an intensive two-month online training on early warning system technologies, approximately 30 top-performing participants from 11 Pacific Island nations progressed to an exclusive study tours in Japan. This transformative journey, held from November 11 to 22, 2024, provided participants with hands-on experience and direct exposure to cutting-edge early warning system technologies. Throughout the tour, participants and subject matter experts reflected on the invaluable insights and experiences gained, highlighting the significant impact of the programme.

DRR: Women's Leadership in Tsunami-based Disaster Risk Reduction Training Programme for World Tsunami Awareness Day

Distinguished officials and professionals passionate about advancing women’s empowerment and disaster risk reduction embarked on an enriching study tour in Nadi, Fiji, from 3-7 March, 2025. Throughout the tour, they engaged with subject matter experts and shared their key takeaways, offering valuable insights on how to strengthen their efforts in these critical areas.
